Invisible Braces

Invisible braces, often referred to as clear aligners, are virtually invisible alternatives to traditional braces offer a discreet, comfortable, and effective way to straighten teeth. Whether you are dealing with gaps, overcrowding, or misalignment, invisible braces can help you smile confidently again.

Invisible Dental Braces

Invisible dental braces are custom-made aligners designed to gently shift teeth into the desired position over time. Unlike traditional metal braces, these clear aligners are crafted from transparent plastic, making them nearly undetectable when worn.

Benefits of Invisible Braces:

1. Unnoticeable

The clear design of invisible braces means they are hardly noticeable, allowing you to undergo orthodontic treatment without drawing attention to your teeth. This makes them popular among adults and teens.

2. Comfort

Made from smooth, medical-grade plastic, invisible braces eliminate the irritation often caused by metal wires and brackets. They are designed to fit comfortably over your teeth.

3. Flexibility

Invisible braces are removable, which means you can eat, drink, brush, and floss without restrictions. Unlike traditional braces, there are no dietary limitations or complicated cleaning routines.

How Do Invisible Braces Work?

Step 1: Consultation

The journey begins with a consultation at any of our clinics in Dublin, Carlow, Rathdrum or Athy. Our orthodontists will assess your oral health and determine whether invisible braces are the right solution for your needs.

Step 2: Digital Scanning and Treatment Planning

Using state-of-the-art 3D imaging technology, we will create a digital map of your teeth. This allows us to design a precise treatment plan, showing how your teeth will move and what the final results will look like.

Step 3: Aligner Moulding

A series of custom aligners are fabricated based on your treatment plan. Each aligner is slightly adjusted to guide your teeth into their desired positions.

Step 4: Wearing the Aligners

You will wear each set of aligners for about two weeks, 20–22 hours per day. The aligners will gradually move your teeth, with minimal discomfort.

Step 5: Regular Check-Ups

Periodic visits to any of our clinics guarantees your treatment is progressing as planned. Adjustments can be made if necessary to keep your smile on track.

Step 6: Completion and Retention

After completing the series of aligners, you will receive Essix retainers to maintain your new smile and prevent your teeth from shifting back.

Conditions Invisible Braces Can Fix

Invisible braces are effective for a wide range of orthodontic issues, including:

  • Crowded Teeth: Aligners can create space and straighten overlapping teeth.

  • Gapped Teeth: They can close gaps between teeth for a more uniform appearance.

  • Overbite: Clear aligners can reduce excessive overlap of the front teeth.

  • Underbite: They help shift lower teeth into a more natural position.

  • Crossbite: Invisible braces can correct misalignment of the upper and lower teeth.

How Long Does Treatment Take?

The duration of treatment with invisible braces varies depending on the complexity of your case. On average:

  • What are dental implants?
Dental implants are artificial tooth roots made of titanium or zirconia that are surgically placed into the jawbone to replace missing teeth. They provide a strong foundation for fixed or removable replacement teeth, such as crowns, bridges, or dentures.
  • Are implants safe, and how long do they last?
Implants can last 20 to 30 years or even a lifetime with proper care. However, their longevity depends on factors such as oral hygiene, lifestyle habits (like smoking), and regular dental check-ups. While the implants themselves are designed to be long-lasting, the crowns or prosthetics attached to them may need to be replaced after 10 to 15 years due to wear and tear.
  • Can implants always replace missing teeth?
Yes, for the vast majority of patients. Even if there is limited bone or other challenges, modern techniques such as bone grafting or sinus lifts can often make implants possible.
  • Does the procedure hurt?
The dental implant procedure is typically pain-free, as it is performed under local anaesthetic to numb the area. Most patients report feeling little to no discomfort during the procedure itself. After the procedure, some mild soreness or swelling is normal, but this can usually be managed with over-the-counter pain relief.
  • Can I remove the teeth attached to implants?
Most implant-supported teeth are fixed permanently and can only be removed by a dentist.
  • What if the implant doesn’t bond with the bone?
In rare cases, if an implant becomes loose, it can be removed, and another implant can be placed after healing, or alternative treatments like a bridge can be used.
