Scale and Polish

At The Dental Suite, we believe that a bright smile starts with excellent oral hygiene. Our scale and polish treatment is done to remove plaque and tartar build-up, leaving your teeth feeling fresh and looking their best.

What is a Scale and Polish?

A Scale and Polish is a routine dental procedure that involves:

  • Scaling: Removing plaque and tartar from the tooth surfaces and beneath the gum line using specialised instruments.

  • Polishing: Smoothing the tooth surfaces to make it more difficult for plaque to accumulate, often leaving teeth looking brighter.

This procedure not only enhances the appearance of your teeth but also plays a crucial role in preventing gum disease and maintaining overall oral health.

Benefits of Regular Scale and Polish Treatments

  • Prevents Gum Disease: Regular cleaning helps prevent gingivitis and periodontitis.

  • Fresher Breath: Removing plaque and tartar reduces bad breath.

  • Brighter Smile: Polishing removes surface stains, enhancing the natural whiteness of your teeth.

  • Early Detection: Regular visits allow for early detection of potential dental issues.

FAQs

1. How often should I get a Scale and Polish?
It's generally recommended to have this procedure every six months. However, your dentist may suggest a different frequency based on your individual oral health needs.

2. Is the procedure painful?
Most patients experience minimal discomfort. Our skilled hygienists ensure the process is as comfortable as possible, and we can provide options to ease sensitivity if needed.

3. Will my teeth look whiter after the treatment?

Yes, polishing removes surface stains, often resulting in a noticeably brighter smile. For deeper stains, we can discuss additional teeth whitening options.

4. Can I eat and drink normally after the procedure?
Yes, but it's advisable to avoid consuming staining foods and beverages (like coffee or red wine) for a few hours post-treatment to maintain the polish's effects.

5. How do I know if I'm eligible for the PRSI scheme?

Eligibility depends on your PRSI contributions. Our team can assist you in checking your status and guide you through the process.
